Note to my overseas friends reading this blog : Typically new mother will confined herself at home for at least a month -- to rest and eat special diet to help her body recover from the intensities of childbirth.

Thankfully, my mum is helping me during my confinement -- to cook, bath and look after baby so that I can rest as much as possible. As we plan to total breastfeed our little princess, my mum can do away with sterlization of milk bottles and making milk from formula milk powder :) Darling TK was home to lend an extra helping hand for the first 4 days :) Really appreciated it as my mobility was restricted due to pain from stitch wound (due to my drug allergy, I opt not to take any pain killer).
Breastfeeding
I am on demand feeding (latch on) our little princess and slowly grasping her timing - 2-3 hours per feed. In between feeds, I will take a nap of 1-2 hours to gear up for night feed. Oh, how I miss sleeping through the nite!

we have 21 days of confinement in Japan - first 6 days in hospital and the rest at home.
mummies are not allow to do what we call 'water job' - dish washing and house cleaning. no sashimi or sushi, either!

noriko, wow, japanese confinement is similar to chinese confinement -- my mum wants me to avoid touching water as much as possible (including shower). Consider the hot weather in singapore, it is a torture not to shower daily! Finally persuaded my mum to let me shower with herbs on the 7th day :)
